TB Skin Test

Our TB Skin Test, also known as the Mantoux tuberculin skin test (TST), is a simple, safe, and effective method for screening tuberculosis infection. This service is designed for individuals requiring testing for volunteer positions, student placements, pre-employment screening, or other health assessments.

Who Should Consider a TB Skin Test?

  • Volunteers, students, and individuals preparing for pre-employment screening

  • Anyone who may have been exposed to tuberculosis or works in a high-risk setting

Test Procedure

During the test, a small amount of purified protein derivative (PPD) is injected just beneath the skin. Depending on your requirements, we offer either a single-stage or a two-stage testing process. A second stage may be recommended in cases where a booster is needed for an accurate reading. You will be advised to return to our clinic within 48 to 72 hours for the test to be evaluated.

What to Expect

  • A minor injection that creates a small, raised bump at the test site

  • A follow-up visit within 2 to 3 days for accurate measurement of the reaction

  • Clear instructions and guidance from our experienced healthcare professionals throughout the process

OHIP Coverage

For eligible patients in Ontario, the TB Skin Test is often covered by OHIP. We can help you determine your eligibility and manage the billing process so that you can receive the screening with minimal hassle.
